In the UK however, we use IDA (Indirect Access) although most people still refer to it as LCR. Simply put the difference between the two is that with IDA you sign up with one alternative carrier and your phone system chooses between BT or the second carrier for each call. The advantage here is that you only have to deal with two telephone bills, not a desk full. At first glance you may think that true LCR is better due to the choice of carriers available on a call by call basis. But the truth is that once BT have been bypassed, the cost difference between each of the other carriers is negligible and not worth; the extra paperwork, phone bills and system programming that is required. |
